A day hike through the woods near Hachioji's famed Haunted Castle that was destroyed in one day, 23 June.
Tokyo's sleepy western suburb of Hachioji has few attractions, but it's heaven for those interested in samurai history.
Hachioji Castle was located on Mt. Fukazawa 深沢山 near Kobosatsu Pass 小仏峠, the place where Kôshu Kaidô, a highway to Kai province.

I finally found some ishigaki but the trail I had been following from the monument ended in tangled, impenetrable scrub. The flat top of the mountain where the hon-maru was located is only about eight meters in diameter. Probably there would be a turret which protected a rear.
